The livestock unit managed by Roger Dunn consists of a pedigree Sussex herd of 90 cows and sheep flock of Romney Marsh ewes. Both are reared on an extensive basis and graze the natural marshland of Ash levels.
Pedigree Sussex Herd
- We have bred Pedigree Sussex Cattle at Ash since 1947 and have been members of the herd health scheme for many years.
- Sussex Cattle are a native breed to the South-East of England. Renowned for their grazing ability often from rough pasture which allows the production of high quality carcass.
- The meat produced by Sussex Cattle is naturally marbled, which gives it natural succulence and tenderness.
- At Goldstone Butchers we hang our beef for a minimum of 21 days which compliments the meat to enhance flavour and tenderness.
- They are only yarded during the winter when conditions become too wet, they are fed home produced cereals, silage and farm products (apples/potatoes).

Sheep Flock
- Our Romney Marsh Sheep have been established since 1950's. They are a breed suited to our marshland areas.
- The Romney Marsh breed produces good wool, and fatten well on grass.
- The ewes are yarded for a short time during lambing at Easter time.
